i know this should be in the insurance part but only 17 year olds go there to moan about the price on insurance. so i've posted here because more people may be able to answer my question.

as a few of you may know i was involved in an accident in january which wasnt my fault. i was stopped and someone went into the back of me.

but after looking at a few quotes today i noticed theres a £250 difference between me saying i did and didnt have an accident.

so why do i have to pay more because someone else drove into me?

if it was my fault i'd say fair enough and just move on with life, but why should i be punished because someone else cant drive?

The argument is from insurance companies is that statistically you’re more likely to have an accident.

Total BS we both know. But this is the way of the world. I`m in the same boat.

I think insurance needs a mix up in this country. Insurance companies should work for us, we contract them. But it`s more like were buying their service on their terms without any leniency or reasoning.

Because statistically anyone involved in a non-fault accident is more likely to be in another one.

As per the other thread, they see it that you put your car in the place, at that time, that resulted in it being hit. You're likely to drive the same road, time, or way again, so in their eyes are therefore more of a liability.

If you box clever you ask for the increase in premiums to be included in your claim. This is fair and just, not like the whiplash claimers and is becoming far more common.

Just a joke!

but i'm complaining about something else aha.

but honestly now, how many of those non fault drivers have actually gone and crashed? because i've been driving a more powerful courtesy car and i havent crashed, so how can they say i'm gonna crash in a less powerful car?

i take it its too late to do that? or can i just phone my insurance company and ask for another claim while i'm at it?

Has the claim for your injuries and losses closed?? if the process is not complete then you may still be able to claim. You will need to ring up the legal eagles you are dealing with and talk to them. Until you have agreed on terms then it may still be possible.

The folk i'm dealing with have said to me that if i rack up any more expenses etc then i need to forward them onto them so they can be added to my claim.

I'm still waiting for my independent medical then the claim will be processed so that's nearly 4 months.

but surely the guy who hit me, his insurance is gonna take the brunt of it all so they are gonn put the guys premium up by loads? so why cant he pay my extra cost since it was his fault? then surely if i ever do have an accident which is my fault then i will pay more? rather than i've done nothing and still have to pay more?

I'm afraid the insurance companies have got us by the short and curlies. For me and my age its not so bad and i ended up getting my insurance cheaper. But i did have to shop around. Its still not fair and unless the government intercedes its going to stay that way.
