Hi all,
Some of you know me some of you don't, so on behalf of those that don't (or don't know what the Mongol Rally is)
I am taking part in the Mongol Rally (
http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/), a 10,000 mile trip from the UK to the capital of Mongolia to raise money for Charity. We are doing the event representing www.theminiforum.co.uk, an international mini forum of over 25,000 members).
The chosen vehicle for this trip is my old trusty 998cc Mini 30 which has taken me to both Italy and Germany raising money for the National Children’s Hospice (NCH) and Macmillan Cancer Support.
As it is so far:
My love of minis and indeed adventure started many years ago. Whilst at Uni I was lucky enough to get my Dad's mini that he had for a few years. The mini bug then caught on in a big way. I became involved in a mini forum (www.theminiforum.co.uk) and slowly learnt a bit more about this great little car and at the same time made some friends along the way.
My first Charity trip in the mini took me to Italy on an organised event called the Italian Job (http://www.italianjob.com/). This was a trip in the north of Italy and took in some of scenes from the great film. I did this trip with my twin brother and we manage to raise 1,000 pounds for the National Children’s Hospital (NCH).About this time I became aware of a Charity event like no other that minis had been taking part in. The trip was called the Mongol Rally. This event sparked my interest and I knew one day I had to take part in the event and in a mini!
I then became more involved in the mini forum and became a staff member. This lead me to assist with organising our own Charity trip which took from Brands Hatch to the mighty Nürburgring. I took part in this trip a total of 4 times and raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
In 2006 I had the opportunity to help my cousin move house....from Boston to Seattle, how could I refuse. So off I set and an amazing journey taking in some amazing sights along the way. Adventure by car was definately the way to go.
In 2008 I then sold the mini to make room for a mini I was building. A year went buy and the opportunity to take part in the rally became a reality, work had given me the OK to take the time off to go on the rally. The day I was informed of this I found out my old mini was for sale, it seemed too good to be true so I parted with some of my hard earned cash and a vehicle for the rally was found.
I am raising all I can for the forums unofficial charity so if you can help me with this and give what you can that would be amazing.

Hi, have seen the above event in the mags and wondered if anyone had done it.
It looks like a fun event but at £20 per person seems a little high compared to others. I know its for a good cause but I don't think any of the entry money goes to the charity, as you have to raise £50 as well. (can't see anything on the website or on the application form) Therefore, it seems a bit steep at £40 per mini (based on 2 adults) compared to other charity events like L2B which is only £14 per car and you get a lovely pack including a t-shirt.

Hi all,
As some of you might know, some of you might not, I'm taking part in the Lands End to John O'Groats trip at the end of June (21st-26th) with approx. 13 other minis.
This is something I have wanted to do for a number of years now and have finally got round to agreeing to do it. The event is organised by the North Devon Mini Register (better known for their Legendary Grand Tour at the end of August)
The first and last days have a theme of 'Hippy' so I have myself a nice outfit to wear for this and Luna will have her door plaques on and will be covered in flowers, peace and love symbols for the trip (Roofless currently has these for me)
The Event takes place over 5 days travelling about 250 miles a day, with camping each night. The event is there to raise money for The Childrens Hospice South West -
http://www.chsw.org.uk/ and also the runners chosen charilty, mine being Time and Place -
http://www.timeandplace.org.uk/, a local charity to me which hopes to teach teenagers about the risks of Driving Fast and stop so many being killed.
I'm currently in the proccess of setting up an online donation site, so if any of you would like to donate some pennies to two very good cause it should be easy for you to be able to. In the mean time if you need to cantact me please drop me a PM.
As well as general donations I'm hoping to get some companies to pay for advertising space on Luna - so if any of you traders out there are interested in this oppertunity please also get in touch.
The minimum I have to raise is £350 but I would like to raise a lot more if I can.
I thank you all in advance

Stacy and Luna xx

On the 4th and 5th of September we will be holding the Minis4Kids Big weekender. The event will be based around Peter Sellers with a Pink Panther theme.
On the Saturday, cars will be meeting at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu before heading out from Lymington for a day on the Isle of Wight.
On Sunday we return to the mainland and back to Gunwharf Quays for more fun and activities including Mountain Bike stunt displays, the Pink Panther and more in a new dedicated Mini arena.

Hey Guys,
Dave here from Charity Rallies - www.charityrallies.org - just wanted to flag a couple of events to you guys that we organise...we are a UK registered charity called Go Help (www.gohelp.org.uk) and we run charity rallies to raise money for charity. We're all volunteers, and just organise this because we enjoy the road trips and raising cash for charity.
We have three events currently:
The Roof of the World Rally, along the old silk route to Tajikistan - you can take any car you want to Tajikistan, there are no vehicle import rules and the routes are incredible, including a drive on the Pamir Highway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pamir_Highway) - leaves on July 4, 2010 (its an annual event). The event raises money for Sworde-Teppa, a Tajikistan based international development organisation specialising in sustainable development projects in Tajikistan, which is the poorest country in central Asia. If you're interested, check out roofoftheworld.charityrallies.org or email the organisers, Sophie and Ryan on sophie@gohelp.org.uk and ryan@gohelp.org.uk
The Mongolia Charity Rally, the 100% charitable Mongolian rally, is an epic 8,500 mile drive from London to Mongolia that leaves on July 10, 2010 (also an annual event). This event distinguishes itself in a number of ways from the Mongol Rally you may have heard of: (1) its 100% for charity, so your entry fee is not going to pay for the organisers lifestyles, and its half the entry fee of the Mongol Rally; (2) vehicles are legally imported in to Mongolia and either donated or sold transparently - its important to know where your biggest donation is going - try finding out where the Mongol Rally cars end up! and (3) the funds you raise for Go Help go to support projects in Mongolia that we partner with Save the Children and other major charities on, and we have someone in Mongolia full time overseeing the projects.
The Cambodian Tuk Tuk Challenge, an awesome (mini-less) drive round Cambodia on a Tuk Tuk - tuktuk.charityrallies.org - we launched it this Easter. Less relevant to this forum, but cool nonetheless.
Lastly - if you are an aspiring rally organiser - drop us a line. We have a pretty hi-tech event platform that allows us to organise and manage events efficiently online, and our ethos is to bring 100% charitable rallies together under one banner to share back-office functions (avoiding duplication, lowering cost, and maximising charitable revenue) and to ensure high visibility (allowing joint promotion as you can see here).
Any questions, feel free to post or email us at info@gohelp.org.uk or me - dave@gohelp.org.uk
Thanks for reading. Great forum guys.
Best regards,
Dave.

Hello everyone!
If you have a pink mini, please consider joining us for the annual Pink Car Rally on September 5th 2010. This amazing day is to raise funds and awareness for The Little Princess Trust, a fledgling charity which provides real-hair wigs for children who lose their hair, through cancer and other illnesses.
The rally is a pink procession - this year we will be travelling from Hereford Hospital to Oxford Children's Hospital. This is the 3rd year that the rally will be running, and it is a fantastic day out. We cause quite a stir as we are driving along the route! We had people bring their pink cars from all over the UK last year to join in, and had a real mix of cars - Nissan Micra's, Honda Jazz's, Mini's, Ford Ka's, VW Beetle's, Smart Car's, even a pink stretch limo! The more cars that join in on the day, the bigger impact we have.
Please check out www.pink-car-rally.com for more details, or ask any questions on here that you might have. Also the website for The Little Princess Trust if you would like to see more about the charity is www.littleprincesses.org.uk
As a mini owner in the past, I remember how passionate fellow mini owners and lovers can be about their cars - I am hoping that this passion can run into charity as well!!
Hope to see some of you in September!
Vanessa

Hi guys,
Myself and my lovely girlfriend Lisa are off on a Charity Drive to Turin in 3 Weeks in aid of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
I am just wondering if anyone can share their experiences of driving a mini across France and Italy.
What should we take spare wise, I'm not in the AA or RAC yet, can you get a 2 week European cover??
Im taking a Spare Fan belt, Triangle etc... but what else should we consider.
The car was, well still is a 1991 Miny City, however it does look slightly different now

Thanks guys, and a special thanks to www.theitalianjob.com for their kind LINK on the front page of the website and the special LOGO they made for us....

The Rally London to Tbilisi is an annual charity sporting event established and co-chaired by Levan Vasadze and Lord Gillford, sponsoring the following charities Saphekhurebi, The Shooting Star Children`s Hospice, and SOS Kazakhstan Childrens Orphanage. Its central goal is to help the charities in their work and to provide rally riders with a unique travel experience. The rally encompasses a demanding and an adventureous jurney across Europe traditionally ending on its edge in Tbilisi at Bagrationi 1882, a beautiful sparkling wine factory in Tbilisi, with a big reception and celebration, with the riders` loved ones flying in to see the riders finish and joining them on a romantic evening in Tbilisi.
This year however, the rally is going further onwards from Tbilisi to Astana, adding a second stage.
The Rally is not a race, but a friendly, unique yet demanding sporting experience, during which the riders are offered an opportunity to cruise through Europe West to East and see its unparalleled beauty and diversity, camp, stay in small and big towns, run into various adventures and help each other out while the rest of the world watches them make their way online. Normally, those riders who want to do so, would write notes on their impressions during the day and e-mail them to the site administration to have them uplinked on a daily basis and to be kept in the archive of the rally.
Dates:
Departure from London - Sat 15 August 2009
Arrive to Tbilisi - Tue 23 August 2009
Arrive to Astana - Fri 4 September 2009
