Sorry but i cant find this information anywhere? When do the final payments have to be made by? Where do we send them to? is it payments@bh2nretro.co.uk again?
OK runners/potential runners. Details for this year's Brands Hatch to Nurburgring Retro Run are as follows:
The dates are set, they will be 01/09/2010 departure, returning on 08/09/2010.
We will meet at Brands Hatch in Kent at 7am on the 1st September. We aim to be on the road by 8am as we need to get to Dover by 9am to get on the ferry. We will travel to Dover in groups (not a full convoy) and you will all be given your ferry booking references prior to departure (you will receive them by email, but we'll take a copy to Brands just in case).
Once on the ferry, we've got around two hours to grab some breakfast from the on board cafe, socialise, meet with each other and also for us to answer any questions you may have. There are plenty of experienced runners coming with us that will be more than happy to help you feel right at home.
We arrive in Dunkirk at around 13:00 local time, then we disembark and there's a small pull-in on the way out of the ferry dock where we normally regroup before heading off on the way to Nurburg.
The journey to Nurburg takes around 4-5 hours normally. Some people claim to do it in less, but I would certainly say that 5 hours is about right.
Once we're at the campsite, you will be given access to the facilities. You will already have a wristband by this time, which allows you access to the site. Don't lose your wristband!
Barnett should be waiting there for the first arrivals. He'll help you familiarise yourselves with the site and its facilities (where the loo is etc). You can then pitch up your tent, crack open a cold bevvy and start to enjoy the week!
The campsite is well located, near the GP track and only 5-10 minutes from the entrance to the mighty Nordschlieffe. There are loads of spectator areas, there are lots of things to do around the campsite and the ring. If you have any questions about what to do and where to go, don't hesitate to ask someone.
There is a Lidl store locally, which stays open until 20:00. I'd suggest that if you're arriving after 19:00, then it may be worth stopping there on the way in. Details will be in the run pack. You will probably want to grab a nice cold drink and some food after the long day.
We are at the campsite for a total of 7 nights (8 days). There is lots to do locally, the area is great with lots of beautiful surroundings. There are local castles to visit, local parks etc. but of course, there's also the Nurburgring! The ring has become a massive event centre now, there's the motorsport museum, lots of shops and stores. There's also a Superbike GP on the weekend that we're there. After last year, I'd suggest it may be worth taking some earplugs if you're a light sleeper!
Ferry details: Outbound- 01/09/2010 - 10:00, arrives in Dunkirk at around 13:00 local time.
Return- 08/09/2010 - 16:01. Arrives in UK at around 17:00 UK time.
Cost for driver: £155.00
Cost for passenger: £90
What's included in these costs?
Driver: Ferry fare, for up to 4 occupants. Camping for 8 days. BH2N Retro Run 2010 T-shirt Sticker kit for car Door plaques for car Run information pack A small donation for Macmillan cancer support.
Passenger: Camping for 8 days BH2N Retro Run 2010 T-shirt A small donation for Macmillan.
Please note: I really need to book ferries by the 30th March at the latest to get our current booking price. This means I need the deposit CLEARED in the BH2N Retro account by this date at the very latest. I understand that we're late with stating final costs, so will phone the ferry company and ask if they can extend our quotation for a few weeks.
Unfortunately, the reason for this delay is that we've been trying very hard to secure a closed session (half hour) like we had last year. We had early indications from the ring that this would be OK, but they simply don't have a slot for us this year. We will keep trying until the very last minute to see if we can secure this. We can only apologise, but we are certain that the run will be an excellent trip again. With lots of people already signed up (and many more expressing interest) there's sure to be a good mix of people and cars!
If you have any questions, please PM a member of the team.
Team members:
Barnett Che The Matt Verns Playmate Delmastiff Dan
If your question is about your car's "retro" status and whether you qualify for the run, please PM Delmastiff and he'll be glad to explain the classification to you.
Ok....the dates are out!! 1st september till the 8th. Please add your name if you coming or thinking about it, that way we can see what sort of amount we are expecting this year...
Any questions please feel free to PM me or anyother BH2NRR staff =) and we will reply asap!!
This year sadly there will be no closed track 30minutes...sorry for the bad news, i hope this will not effect your run with us. Of course the track is still open for the public...there is no worry about that, just the fact that i have been turned down for the dates that we are there, someone else obviously has waved more money in...still i will say that i will not give up on this track time..im still in contact with the Nürburgring and i hope that we can pull this off in the next few months.
we just feel that we should get that out there to you lot so we can get the real costs out there, so lets wait and see!! fingers crossed...
Matt will today or tomorrow come up with the final cost of a superb week with us.
As you all know, this event is called the BH2NRR that is Brands Hatch to Nurburgring RETRO RUN Last year there was a lot of discussion between the organisers of 'whats retro, and whats not'. This year we will be approving each application to eliminate the more modern cars from coming and keep it strictly to retro cars and mini's.
So, cars which are automatically eligible to join the run are as follows:
All Mini's (This is a Mini Club after all!!) All PRE 1990 cars (The definition of Retro being employed for this event is any car that was first manufactured before 1990 but continued post 1990 in the same guise and model release. I.E. MK2 Astra, E30 BMW, Peugeot 205, VW Polo to MK 2 only)If you are unsure as to whether your car qualifies, please drop me a PM with your cars full details and I'll let you know.
Simply put, if your car's model was first manufactured after 1990, then it is not eligible. All is not lost though as you will still be able to take your 'modern' car but not as an official BH2N runner. You will be responsible for booking your own ferry and camping and you won't receive a run pack, stickers etc, nor will you be able to do the parade laps but you can still 'tag along' so to speak.
I hope that's clear for everyone and that you like the change.
Right basically, the my family and some of their friends went to the ring with a few cars, for the weekend, all was well till the last lap on the last day. One car broke down, got towed off (for free!), and pushed it to their hotel carpark.
They had breakdown cover for the car, got it put on the back of a truck and hoped theyd see it in england in a few days.
now for some technicalities....
the company then argued the cost would be more than the car is worth so didnt want to bring it back, whilst they were fighting to say it wasnt a standard car and is worth more than what the recovery company say it is..... the company went online, found a nice couple of photos of it on the ring, and said that would void the cover completely.
The car is now with the company, and its storage costs.... refusing to bring it home. Any ideas of how to get it back? cant take our car over and tow back due to weight restrictions.....
Hi i know its super early but my minis a long long way from being finished and hoping this time next year it will be nearly there! possibly hopefully maybe but........ i was wondering if the rough dates for next year were available as i have shut down for 2 weeks in aug and am hoping the date will coincide. Aug 8th to 21st
Mates let me down and to be honest i don't want to do that drive on my own as it gets boring haha
So.... If anyone wants to come but cant bring there own car or something i have a spare seat.
All id want is half the petrol, then all you have to pay for is your camping when we get there. Petrol isnt much in the polo either, cost about £200 total last year and thats with a trip to Cornwall added onto the end.
If anyone is going down to Brands the night before can they recommend anywhere near by to stay? A travel lodge or something similar. I don't fancy the drive all the way from derby on the morning!
I have sent out all of the booking references via e-mail, these booking references are important as Norfolkline do not issue tickets, so please do not lose them.
If anyone hasn't received their booking reference number please contact me as soon as possible.
Hi guys. Been watching all of the footage from this years BH2NR and it looks like so much fun. Will it be happening next year because i would definatly be up for it?
Me and a few others are heading out end of May if anyones about? Bank holiday weekend 28th.
Me and george want a car each in on september run, but won't be able to confirm (PAY) til after MAY / JUNE. If there are no spots left, we'll just book next to you lot, so we'll be coming whatever on retro 2010.
George wants to confirm that his mk2 golf is retro? Me thinks it is.
I have just bout a ring taxi ticket and will be hopefully booking a slot the weekend we are there when the dates come up. I have room for one more passenger in the car, if anyone is interested let me know. I would however be asking for a third of the cost as they're not cheap, which is €65.
