I have a wooden dash that has a place for a cd player. I fitted it over the weekend but when i drive it seems to make the cd skip. I can be on the smoothest road but it still skips at time. It seems to skip at the mid engine revs range. Anyone had this problem? if so what did you do to fix it?
thanks

Have you got your cage secured properly?is this a new cd player? did you have it in somewhere before the new dash board?

Maybe try some rubber mounts? If not, then a different CD player may work.

Hello everyone.. The CD player was in another car i had and worked well then. It has been sitting around about 6 months though.. The cage is properly secured. Im not sure about the rubber mounts...they would need to be quite tall..

mini Lad.. him still looking for some good foam padding to try. Will let you know how it works out when i get some though.

Thanks for asking

have you made sure it is proberly earthed? try running a small wire from the cd player chassis to a metal bolt or screw that is close to it, i had the same problem and this fixed it also the speakers would crackle at mid rpm aswell

My stereo skips even on the radio... earth problem? Also my iPod unit seems to have stopped functioning :S kinda weird 'because it only seemed to stop working at the same time as the stereo started skipping... now if we plug the iPod unit in, it gets really really REALLY hot, but doesn't work.
The stereo was in my car a good 18 months before it started acting up.
