HELLO EVERYONE ! NEW MEMBER. IVE JUST BOUGHT A MINI CITY 850, PROBLEM IS THE V5C AND VIN PLATES ARE AWOL!
THERE IS A PLATE ON THE NEARSIDE INNER WING, THE NUMBER STARTS WITH FE THEN SEVEN NUMBERS. THE ENGINE NUMBER IS PRESENT,AND STARTS WITH 85H791P-.IS THE NUMBER ON THE INNER WING ENOUGH FOR DVLA TO SUPPLY A V5C FOR THIS VEHICLE ? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GLADLY ACCEPTED ! MANY THANKS. kevmarg01.

if its a 1980 or later [im guessing its not because its an 850] there has to be VIN number stamped into the rain chanel on the scuttle [between the wiper spindles] if you dont know the registration number you will have to do a bit of research with the previous owner , but without a chassis plate and vin number you could end up [eventualy] with a Q plate.

Contact the DVLA... They will probably want to inspect the vehicle, and then will determine if they can find the original title, give it an age related title or require it to go through an VIC/SVA and allocate it a Q plate.

Which ever way, it's not a wise idea to buy a car without the V5, would you buy a modern car without one ?

There should be plate with numbers stamped into it on the part with bonnet catch at the front. As far as i know that's your chassis number.

The number you say that begins with FE doesn't seem to be a VIN/Commission number.

However the engine is definately an 850cc, you already know this anyway but here's the data if you need it:
