hello everyone i have a small problem i am refitting my cones but when i come to compress them the compression tool only goes on a little bit we wound it up and nearly got to the end and masssive bang and it flew off done this twice now. when we screw it on the other one it is the same it feels like there is metal at the other end you cant go anymore

there are two differant thread sizes, the later ones are metric i think and the early ones imperial. most compressor kits come with two threads rods, one should fit properly.
this one has both http://www.minispare.....E COMPRESSO...
but the cheaper one only has metric http://www.minispare.....E COMPRESSO...

its the right one we just figured out that the thread was made cheaply and had a load of crap in it so we did that and now when we compress it we cant get it far enough up to get the trumpet in .

Check the threads on the compression tool first, usually the first "line" is mashed up so it wont catch in the cone thread, could try filing it a bit, worked for me.
Its harder to align the tool back in the cone when refitting trumpets, just takes a little patience. Shine a torch down the hole and make sure the cone thread is sitting straight, more than likely it will be tilted slightly to one side.
If you got hi-los obviously adjust the trumpet to the lowest setting, if you got standard trumpets they aint going back in without alot of swearing as the cone can only compress so much, the tool will be silly tight at this stage anyway. You'll probably strip the tool thread if you keep persisting like this.
Try levering the bottom end of the trumpet in with the top half under the cone when compressed.
Worse case scenario take the bottom arm off, but this can be more of a pain!
Good luck

If your refitting the cones you need to compress them really well to get the trumpet back in and refit the top arm.
