Well i rang round all the local motor factors, went to my local mini place, but only one place had a throttle cable.

But on my cable it had a white plastic clip just by the carb and the new cable didnt have this, so i just removed the plastic clip and fitted it on the new cable, got it all in position but the cable was about an inch to short...

So is there a difference in length between the early cable with just the brass caps on the both ends and the later one with one brass end and one plastic end that clips in place on a bracket on the carb?

So now im stuck without a car for another few days whilst perople order them in for me :)

After a quick think about it, could i take one of the brass ends off, cut an inch off the tubing and put it back together would that work?

If you need a fix now rather than waiting about....I've used Pushbike cables in the past from Halfords - They last longer and have an inner coating that lubricates the cable,.. they're cheaper too...

Hm good idea, any ideas about shortening the outer black casing bit to give a bit more length of the cable.

As in my head it means that it will give more of the internal cable exposed as the outer case is secured both sides...

Hi,

There are several different lenghts for accelerator and for that matter speedo cables for different builds, ie SPI, MPI, lhd and rhd etc.... with different ends and lengths.

Regards Martin
