Welcome! Guess the mpi is useful going up and down the Alps. Do you have a jazz festival on at the moment?

Hi,

Yes, I must said the MPI is great in mountain. With a simple Stage 1 kit, you have a good torque.
The picture above was taken in the middle of the Alps, during an event with the local Mini club (Alpin's Mini club).

For me, the Mini is a daily driver, this is the reason of the MPI (always start, no humidity problem). And that's with my Mini doesn't look a show car ;D
Problem, rust and MKVII ;D

For the jazz festival, here there is a lot of them. I'm not jazz addicted, but I've seen adverts for June and July. If you need informations I can have a look to local newspaper and give you some address.

Thanx for accepting me :proud: (and my bad english :proud: )
Bye

Phil

Your English is excellent. There are some fantastic pictures on the Alpins club website. I wouldn't mind trying to keep up with this in the mountains :proud:

As for the jazz thing, I was browsing the Isère tourist website and saw this at Vienne. Is that near you?

Ho, the Quattro, this one was wonderful, look like new condition! We didn't have time to look at her in details, the driver was fast far away :proud:

It's clear we are very lucky to have a such playground, Alps are wonderful to drive, walk, skiing etc ...

For Vienne, it's one of the major Jazz festival in France, the place is unique, the acoustic of an antic theatre worth all the big stadium & big money concerts.
It's about 1H30-2H driving from my home, went there 2 times, but for rock event, not jazz :proud:.

OK thanks. Do you ever use studded tyres?
Do you ski? (Is the Pope Catholic?)
I gave up skiing when I twisted my ankle and had to stay in the chalet and do all the cooking :D
I am asking about the skiing because my son Tim and his girlfriend Maria go skiing and snowboarding at Deux Alpes, which I think is in your department, and at Courchevel to the east. Here he is having a rest ...

Anyway, back to the minis, and as you say, vivent nos belles voitures (or something like that :D )

No, I don't think studded tyres always authorized in France... And I think, finding some tyres for the 12" is near impossible.
I have my Mini since 2 years, and I have cross 2 winter season only. Last winter was rude, but I have change my tire just before with some FALKEN ZE912 165/60X12, and no problem, even with 5 cm of fresh snow on the road.

Do you ski? (Is the Pope Catholic?)

You're right, I didn't skiing :teehee: since I was 20 years old, I do snowboarding during last 15 years...

I gave up skiing when I twisted my ankle and had to stay in the chalet and do all the cooking ;)

Here, even people with good mountain experience get hurt, or even died. Each one have limit, and crossing them is hazardous... I was myself hurt because of a strong fall in snowboard, a full winter without any interesting session:(.

I like "les Deux Alpes", because all the facilities are fast and deliver you without too much waiting even in case of numerous people. The problem of this one is the miss of tree, fir or conifer, the mountain is really "sad". Now, I belong to people angry waiting and going to place where a lot of people goes :D, so I take a pair of racket, fix on my snowboard shoes, climb somewhere no one goes, and then fix the snowboard and ride. That's not the same pleasure, sure...
And Couchevel is for us a ZOO. Yes a ZOO, this is the place of all the jet-set, Russian mafia and more. It's incredible... You see more Porsche Cayene than Renault Megane, we forget this place :D

Nice picture ! Where was it ?

Anyway, back to the minis, and as you say, vivent nos belles voitures (or something like that :D )

Yep, that's the correct sentence ;)

I was always interested by car, I have own some powerful and modern car, but without the same fun than this little lovely one. The choice was hard: find a vintage daily drivers, with a reasonable price. Then, the Mini was the target, and something I didn't imagine is the community around this car, a really interesting hidden side of the moon :dontgetit:

Wow! I do learn a lot on this forum, and not always about minis.
I've asked Tim where the pic was taken.
Thanks for the info :D
