I have the whole of the front suspension stripped on my brothers Mini. I just got the parts to put it all back together. I have bought new knuckle joints for the cone/upper arm. I can't seem to get the old ball from the old knuckle joint off of the cone...any suggestions??

Thanks in advance.

Thought that might be what I had to do, have a feeling I'm guna need to find a vice to do it though, in pretty tight. Thanks.

EDIT:

Given up :D. I work in the motor trade so I'm guna go down a mates garage in a bit and use his tools!

Be very careful, it is easy to break a big lump off of the cast aluminium trumpet (been there, done it!).
If you pour releasing fluid down the top of the cone and leave it overnignt in the upright position, then empty it out the next day, heat up the bottom of the trumpet with a butane torch, then give it a gentle thump with a long steel bar inside the trumpet it will almost certainly come out cleanly. Whatever you do, don't clamp the trumpet in a vice or it will just fracture.
I have a long 3/8" steel rod I use for this (if I can still find it).

i had this problem, so i heated it on the gas hob for about 15-20 mins, then straight away got it in the vice seated as it would be in the car, got a screw driver hit it a few tims and it came straight out. if it doesnt work first time keep going until it does

Hey. Thanks guys. I managed to get it out using a vice and a punch, being carefull not to damage the cone.

I'm now up nice and early to get back to work on it! Ha.
