got a real bad rattle at tick over and really really bad over 1500rpm
now just had the fanbelt (or what ever they call it) off
and struck it up and its ok no rattles
the fan belt goes round the crank, aircon pump, power steering pump, alternator, 1 pully and the belt tensioner
put it back on and rattle rattle rattle
all the above items feel ok by hand no loose bareings not tight or loose

it turned out to be the harmonic damper rubber was split and you could move the pully edge like the pulley was loose

My 306 one went twice during my ownership.
When i removed it, you could hear the bearing balls rolling around and clunking.
