i may get my 998 bored out to a 1071 spec engine so aiming for 70bhp or there abouts. (not sure whether that is at the fly or at the wheels as the site i found didn't say. So any info on that would be useful)
What would i be looking at to pay for a rebore and possible refurb of the engine aswell.
Where would be the best place to get this done? any recommendations?
edit: just been reading something that says the 1071 is an 850 bored out.
will i still be able to gain the same power from my 998 A+ lump if it was bored out to a 1071 or would it be different?

you cant bore an 998 out to a 1071 can you? the real 1071 has the same bore size as the 1275 and the crank had a diffrent stroke. an over bored 998 will give you 1060
good thing i new that before i decided to get it done
i see that a 970 engine has the same bore as the 1071 just smaller MM stroke
if i got an 850cc engine could that be bored out to 1071 size

Correct, exactly what i thought, its the 850 engine that can be bored to a 1071.

No. I would not bore an 850 over the factory tolerances. some are not so good when bored out. mainly the early 60s blocks bit thin in places.you cant bore an 998 out to a 1071 can you? the real 1071 has the same bore size as the 1275 and the crank had a diffrent stroke. an over bored 998 will give you 1060

The reason the 1071 works so well is because its so close to Square, to get a 998 on its crank you have to overbore further than 1096 infact i think its impossible to get that crank and bore ratio even close to Square, now if you want advice on tuning a 998 please PM me, i have a Build thread on here aswell.
The following topic may also help you, and im currently in the stages of writing a guide on Tuning a 998.
