Leaded To Unleaded Conversion

My mini is Leaded and its hard to get LRP round here the only place that does it is Asda.

How much am i looking at for it to be converted to unleaded and could i do it my self?

Don't put LRP in your car, it's a waste of money and will not save your engine... You are much better off using unleaded with a bespoke additive, I suggest Castrol Valve Master.

If you want to convert your car, the simplest way is to buy an unleaded head, or get your current head converted, this will cost iro 100 notes, and unless yo own an engineering works you will not be able to do it yourself..

how can you tell if the head is for unleaded fuel or not, is it obvious?

most cars pre 89 are leader, if they are converted so have stamps on them readin UL on the engine plate, i think

this is probably right but the block has an o/b so no engine plate + the head is modified so i cant be shure if its the same age as the engine thanx for the info tho, i hope it is an unleaded head

Best way to tell is by taking an exhaust valve out and looking/feeling in under the valve seat, if its been converted then there is usualy a squared edge on the bottom of the seat. its hard to explain, but imagine the rest of the port is smooth then the u/l seat is plonked in and doesn't follow the contours of the rest of the port and feels noticable.

That doesn't make any sense does it lol
