I'm thinking of a set for mine when I get to that stage.

The bigger lamps I think you refer to are the Oscars (around 7") and the super Oscars even bigger still.

New, they are around £80 - £100 each! Used ones on ebay go for much less but are usually a bit rusty.

One seller on ebay is listing some SIM lamps (look similar in the picture) with Cibie covers for £85 the pair. Don't know how they compare on quality but if it's just the look you're after, may be woorth a try.

If you do, I'd be interested to know what they are like.

Regards

Steve

that did make me chuckle as cibie have missed a trick there, the photo above is of oscars not super oscars and is not my car, i used to have both supers and oscars on my supersport and yes the supers are huge

Bungle the best way of seeing if you have cibies is to look at the lense as the name cibie was always blown into the glass, they did make quite alot of other lights as well as oscars super oscars and oscar plus

The cover Mini of the latest MiniWorld (April 2010) has a set of Cibies with colour coded bowls (I think thats the name)

They're not going to be cheap but they look wicked!

There have been many different Cibie lamps available, it’s just that they became famous for their large domed shape Super Oscar’s used in motor sport. I’ve used them and found they were excellent lamps, especially the Super Oscar long range

I think the ones on Bungles mini are now called Cibie Tango and what were formerly known as Super Oscars are now just Oscars, the current super oscars are big oscars (about 8" I think). You can still buy them from Demon Tweeks for about £90 for the standard oscar. I know a lad who runs a set of oscars on the front of a 106 rally car and he loves them to pieces.
