Please give your topic a title that quickly describes your problem. Just putting 'Help my Mini doesn't work' is useless to anyone trying to help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Model:Cooper sport
Year:2000
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible): My wifes mini cooper sport battery keeps losing its charge, I have a solar powered trickle charger on it, but at the mo it doesnt seem to help.
It has a alarm and immobilzer , which i am not sure if its standard or an after market one. Just wondered if any body has had any similar problems or can point me in the right direction.
Thanks for taking time to read this.
Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?
A 2000 with its electronics is too new for me to offer year specific advice. However, there are a few fundamental questions that apply to all cars.
What is the red charge warning light doing? Is the light "off" when the key is out of the ignition, "on" when the key is in the run position with the engine NOT running, and "off" with the engine running?
Is the fan belt tight?
How old is the battery that is in the car?
If the trickle charger isn't keeping it topped off, the battery is probably toast.
have you fully charged it on a mains charger yet.
if not do that then see what happens
a solar charger will only keep the battery toped up with charge it will not charge it from flat.
