Mini is a 1995 model SPI

I checked the oil last night to see a yougurty frothy cream coloured substance gunking up around the cap and everywhere else. I know this is a blown gasket sign but so far no smoke or even lack of performance! If I hadn't of took the cap of I would have never known. I have done an oil change and topped her up for now but I use the car for work so I need it to be fixed asap.

Am I right in thinking this is a gasket as I am no expert!?

Anyone know of any rough prices of what this will cost to fix?

Gunky oil can be other things apart from a head gasket, see if you can get a compression test done to establish if your mini is running happily on all four cylinders - good luck!

How far do you travel.

If no power loss or other problems it could just be condensation not evapourating off. Try cleaning out the breather pipes.
Cold weather you will get condensation in the engine, on short runs the engine won't get hot enough for long enough to evapourate it off.

I travel a lot every day. I do calls to peoples homes all over gloucester city and have to travel from the forest of dean. so 60-100 miles a day easy.

Im trying to get hold of a garage that will do a compression test without ripping me off. Im really new to mechanics...

its like a creamy foam...

Could always buy a Compression test kit and attempt it yourself... Its actually not that hard (and you'll have the kit to use after)

£19

doddle to use, unscrew spark plugs, screw gauge adaptor in, crank the engine over on the starter a few turns, write down the reading. Do that for all 4 cylinders

Mines similar to the one Lrostoke has added.

Well worth it I say.

WARNING; when turning over with plugs out, the engine will still try to produce a spark, disconnect the negative low-tension side of the coil to stop this, else you may get a nasty shock!

Assuming compression is about the same, and reasonable on all four cylinders, consider an oil and filter change, and monitor the condition of the oil and coolant.

Also when doing the compression test you will need full throttle to allow full air flow
