I am planning on upgrading the suspension on my '85 998 and will be using the HILO Kit with the upgraded KYB shocks and would like some discussion on the cones available. I can't decide between:
STR688 Yellow
STR687 Red
FAM 3968 Original

I live in a rural area the is hilly with winding roads so prefer the best handling but don't want too harsh a ride since the roads are a little bumpy.
Would the Yellow be too hard or would the originals be too soft. Right now I'm leaning to the Red but would like to hear some input.
I am driving on Yoko 175 50R13s with Sport Pack.

Thanks,

Mini Spares red springs have given my Mini the best ride it's ever had. Far superior even to brand new late type standard springs whilst still feeling like a Mini. Better than a coil replacement IMHO. You might find KYB shocks a little hard for them, it's best to use an adjustable shock and dial it down fairly low. AGX dampers compliment these springs very well.

Also, the trumpet or cone is the aluminium part that sits under the doughnut or spring media, it may just help when you come to order parts

I use Yellow in my turbo, with coil overs on the rear

Not to cause confusion or maybe I'm confused, I'm talking about Rubber Cones, AKA springs, donuts. Not Trumpets AKA, struts.

Exactly what I meant...... the spring part is NOT a cone... the cone is the part that sits under (on the front) and in front on the rear of the doughnut
