I have just done a head gasket change on my 1994 1275 stage 3 tuned carburettor engine due to finding the dreaded milky substance under the oil filler cap

I changed the head gasket flushed the system and ran the car for about twenty minutes before using it. I have done about 7 miles since the change and thought I would double check everything was ok as when I took the head off on sunday the payen head gasket that was previously fitted was not blown i figured the reason it had blown was because of fairly loose studs that came out all too easy when removing the head. I once again opened the oil filler cap to find more milky oil.

I have no idea where this could be coming from. the block and head are both fairly newly refurbished and upgraded. infact modifications not even 6 months old.

also the car seems to be running better today than it was before.

why is there water in my oil?

i do around about 5 miles a day in traffic. I woulda thought the engine gets plenty warm enough when its running for 30-40 mins per run.

as above short journeys can cause this,

also the green classic oil is really prone to it, it used to do it even on long jouneys in mine.

try some millers oil in there the CTV i'm using is really good.

if its condensation would it look like someone had poored a bottle of milk into the rocker box. or would it just have a slight spotting in the oil?

I am running it with castrol classic 20w50. i used to run it on penrite but it started getting expensive. I never noticed this problem before with the penrite. will it do any damage to the engine with it running how it is now.

I cant see it doing any harm, but its a bit irritating when your doing the tappets.

Take it for a good long hard run soon. That should help.
