HELLOHAA PEOPLES i need help!
i've (over the last 3 years) been having my mpi jcw mini restored and modded somewhat quite expensively!!

BUT i wanted to keep it mpi and have a healthy 1425mini mpi with something like an omex running it.
so, i've decided to go carb as i have a guy who specializes in omex etc that there setup wont run it anybetter!! so i need to set it up on carbs

my question is. what do i do about mot's!! not wanting to go to some bent guy and i dont want (if it can be helped) to nick plates of a scrapper and make out my engine is older than it is!! lol!!

any help / ideas would be epic! thanks!

You need to change the whole engine. To avoid any possible trouble at the MOT you need to retain proof of the age of the replacement engine, in the form of a receipt and documents that show the engine number and the year of the vehicle it came from. Ideally you need proof of the VIN of the vehicle it came from on the receipt too because the MOT computer uses that number to identify what emissions test your car then requires. If you don't have the VIN, the tester has to work it out for himself. Your car will be emissions tested on the age of the engine.

no idea then?? have i put this in the wrong section??

You waited 2 whole hours before you got bored? Really? This has been covered many times before, the information is all here already.

Which of course is illegal and is exactly what the OP was asking how to avoid in his first post! In any case, since MPi blocks are stamped and not plated with an engine number it would be quite tricky to forge without getting the block skimmed.

Yes, sorry I realise that it might not have been clear from my first post that this is what you need. An older replacement engine, not just a replacement. An engine from a time before there was a need to pass a cat emissions test.
