Please give your topic a title that quickly describes your problem. Just putting 'Help my Mini doesn't work' is useless to anyone trying to help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Model: mini mayfair
Year: 1995
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
hello there
couple of weeks ago I wrote some problem of my mini.
which is someone hitted my car and ranaway.
I reported police and called insurance company.
It will be 3518 pounds to fix my car. So insurance company doesn't want fix my car. Because 3518 pounds is much more higher than my car value.
I discuss with engineer for 3days. he offer me 1612pounds with car or 1772 without car.
but I require 1700pounds with car or 2000 pounds without car to them.
I want to ask you
Do I accept it? or not.
plz let me know I have no idea of this.
my car is
95 mayfair green colour
autometic
sunroof
alloy wheel.
half leather seat
64000k
full service history
just 1previous owner
bad things some have a rust near head light and windscreen.
Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?
push for £1700, plus car, but to be honest, £1612 aint that far from £1700 anyway, so if worse comes to worse, accept the £1612 and the car, as u can always break the car and sell the parts on, or use the good bits on a good second hand mini that you could buy with the £1600 that you get for the damaged mini in the 1st place.
Proving the pre accident value of your car is not the minefield it's made out to be, the assessor will be more used to you being a normal car owner who just wants to get the claim sorted out so they can get rid of the pile of scrap they now own and go out and pick another car to drive, enthusiasts are a different type of car owner, we usually want to keep the pile of scrap to scavenge for the next very similar vehicle which will be owned, we usually have a good idea of how much the car is worth or have access to somebody else who does (eg TMF). Speak to the assessor and ask him to revalue the claim as you have looked around and a similar condition vehicle will cost more to purchase than the offer they make (if this is the truth, remember they will check it out if asked) also remember the company he works for will obviously want to give you the minimum amount they can, but this is not set in stone, my last write off was initially valued at 1500 by them, but i refused this as the value was nearer 2500, i settled on 2250 with keeping the car after only a few phone calls explaining the position and a couple of recent copies of miniworld and the local newspapers classifieds as proof. Ask them and explain why you think it's worth more and see what happens, good luck.
thats a little harsh and if i say so uncalled for!
most people dont realise that this is an option as most dont understand how insurers work (many feel wrongly that insurers are there to help)
could just help the guy as im sure his last topic stated that hes a foreign student (if im remembering right) and doesnt know his options
Or not totalled it and thanks to the fact it's got 'Agreed Value', it means it'll get repaired and not written off.
Having 'Agreed Value' makes all the difference and no classic Mini is properly insured without it.
