i've seen a Sip Migmate 100 fairly close too me,

i'd just like to know what peoples views on this kind is?
also what other equipment would you recomend before i start attacking my own mini with it lol
sorry if this is the wrong section to! think i meant to put it into the bodywork section!

cheers

Just my 2p:

SIP are carp. Don't waste your money - you'll spend more time "fixing" it and fiddling with it than you will welding.

Clarke are as good as you'll get for the money.

Totally agree SIP and welder should not be used in the same sentence they are shocking welders

30 amps minimum is what you want 25 ideally for the paper thin mini panels, clark are about the best bang for budget and or actually made in italy in the same factory as some of the bigger names iirc

with regards to wire 0.6 should be used for car body unlike whats suggested in the other thread, if you work out the relative volumes per cm of feed then its a ratio of the square of diameter ie. 36 to 64. So that's a 78% (and not 33%) increase when going from .6 to.8 wire and consequently a lot more heat to lose into that thin sheet

Stay away from gasless it burns hotter and puts out a nasty cloud of smoke!

My welder is a BOC Automaster its about 25 years old and works a treat 28amps minimum 180 max and a proper copper transformer not like this modern stuff with aluminum windings, you dont have to buy new and unless i was digging deep for a good quality welder i would look for a good second hand unit from the likes of tec-arc murex esab lincoln ect
