Hey everyone!
I'm restoring a 1978 Mini and I'm replacing all front panels. I discovered last weekend that the scuttle panel is rotten at each ends, so they'll need replacing. It's a rust trap in there, so I can't really see what's what. I found some ''inner scuttle panels''. What are these? Are they really neccesary?

Thanks a lot!

i think as you look up under the arches they are the blanking plates for the scuttle, most minis tend to have these plates rotted away on them

they are scuttle closing panels, the idea of the closing panel is to stop all the muck and crap from the road going directly onto the underside of the scuttle.
if i was you id fit them, why not?

fit them!! not being harsh by shouting but please fit them hahaha like stated above they stop all the muck and crap going up under the scuttle not only rotting that but where the top of the scuttle is, its open right at the top and if moisture or water gets up there it will soon drip down inside the door jam and into the inner/outer sill. for a fiver a corner you cat go wrongreally and it only takes 10-15mins to fit and you dnt have to buy genuine either as the latest hadrian ones arnt that bad fit . simples *squeeks*

Okay I'll fit them! I was wondering about their utility because they're not structural, but they're cheap and they'll probably save me from bigger troubles in years!
Thanks guys!
