decent performance from it.
I would like to know what i can do to it and what sort off performance in HP i would achieve,
I have 200 pounds maybe a little bit more, or would it be better spending the money on a 1275. i want the same sort of performance as a 1996 Cooper.
if anyone can list what i can get etc
Would help Loads
Thanks aaron

Somebodies already listed his spec today which gave him 66bhp it involves rebore to 80 thou, new head gas flowed and a new cam, along with a new dizzy.
Cylinder head and camshaft are really next stage you are looking at.
Various options
12g295 head pretty rare these days and seem to fetch upwards of £90 in who knows what condition.
Camshafts new are going be over £150 with followers and new oil pump.
12g940 head again some machine work involved

For £200 I doubt you are going to get same performance as a 1996 Cooper which are think are about 63 bhp standard.

Well maybe not to the standered off a cooper but over 60ish horse power, i may be able to get 300 if that would help at all, how much hp would you think mine had atm, cant be alot, its pretty fast compared to my mates 998. id like it to have good pull away, not top speed etc
Thanks Aaron

If all your after is quick get away and not fussed about top speed, then find out what diff its running.
Mines running a 2.95:1 which is great for cruising and motorways but won't be best for fast get aways.

If its as quick as you say then I doubt a rolling road will make a massive if any difference.

Apperently it revs the ballox of them when your on motorways etc, when you change the diff :S
But not sure, would a cam make much difference?

Couple of prices to let you know
Stage 3 Head = £300 + VAT
Fast Road Cam = £70 + VAT (worth changing a few other bit, followers, oil pump, duplex)
Head alone will take you to around 50bhp (assuming rest of engine is sound and its set up correctly) the cam will take you to around 60bhp maybe a little more if tuned well

Thats what i was looking for. so do you reckon it would be worth doing the 998 or holding out for a 1275,
and also could yu get a head built cheaper as ive got a 1275 head that needs re building
thanks aaron
