was driving the mini home tonight after picking it up from the bodyshop, and got stuck in traffic, the car felt more vibraty and shaky than normal, so i pulled into a sideroad, got a torch checked subbie mounts, all ok, so lifted bonnet, and tried rocking the engine, my god does it move!

The bolt that goes through the top engine steady and into the block has sheared, leaving a bit of bolt in the block! So how can i get that leftover bit out, i cant get a drill in there to use an easyout either..... Many thanks, sam

I drilled a hole with a dremel and a lot of patience, then oceans of WD40 and an easy out.
Not to forget a lot of luck to actually fiddle it out.

There are also kits to replace this setup, so you don't need that bolt anymore :

Glad you've got it sorted.

You're right though, should have an S shaped bracket as this puts the bolt in shear.

With only the single bolt, and no bracket, your bolt was bending every time you accelerated or braked, and quickly fatigued and snapped.

Have you got the correct bracket fitted now?

Dave
