We go to Hayle every summer for 2 weeks. We absolutely love the place. Theres loads of places within a 45 min drive from Hayle, such as St. Ives, Falmouth, Truro. The beaches at Hayle are spot on.
Have a good holiday. (IMG:http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u295/1275gt/P1010335.jpg) |

Fowey is a small town on the river Fowey
you have boat trips around the harbour, shops, pubs and coastal walks to do (IMG:http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/bungle452/v1.jpg) (IMG:http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/bungle452/smr2.jpg) (IMG:http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/bungle452/gc1.jpg) (IMG:http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/bungle452/harbour.jpg) |

You cant go wrong with cornwall (other then weather, last time I was there was during boscastle), just explore its much more fun that way. Fowey sounds nice was watching 3 men in a boat and learnt thats where the idea for wind in the willows originated, so think it might be worth a trip.

Fowey hall hotel is Toad hall
Cornwall being so narrow with a high bit in the middle means you often get different weather on the south coast to the north the day of the Boscastle floods i was sailing from Falmouth to Fowey in bright sunshine (thats not the name of the boat) |

St Ives is lovely and when we were holidaying in Cornwall back in 1996 I can remember we parked our Mini in the car park at the top of the hill and got a bus down into the seaside village.

Have to agree that St Ives is a lovely little town well worth visiting. Port Isaac (where Doc Martin is filmed) Mousehole |

The day of boscastle i was in spain (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol.gif) , did hear it was very wet in plymouth aswell with the water coming over the bonnets of the cars.
I'm only used to the areas or cornwall close to me but if you are going Newquay, try a trip to Padstow. Its where rick stein owns his restaurant (and most of the village) (IMG:http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v368/180/25/810802621/n810802621_965475_9802.jpg) Or there is Looe and Polperro (IMG:http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs232.snc1/7927_158514602621_810802621_2612018_7598110_n.jpg) and if you do decide to got there and come back the Devon expressway (A38) via torpoint ferry or Tamar bridge be sure to check out Goodbodys in Mutley, Plymouth or the union pub in Saltash (IMG:http://www.ukpubfinder.com/uploads/3946_1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.westcountrylinks.co.uk/union/images/uniq.jpg) Yes, they are minis on the roof (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) |

I really think I'm gonna have to make a trip to St Ives (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Seems the most popular suggestion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/amused.gif) Bungle, looks like I might have to pay your neck of the woods a visit too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

Not read the whole thread, but I always go to perranporth when I go to cornwall, its a bit of a drive from wadebridge though.
I've been to so many places in cornwall, just the majority when I was younger.. Just go for a drive and see what you can find! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

On the south coast....
Is the seal sanctuary at Gweek still open? If you like that sort of thing. I think there's a village near there called Brill* which we had to stop and photograph with the kids (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) (* old-fashioned word short for brilliant) The Hanging Gardens of Wotsit, ie several Cornish gardens in sheltered inlets, each with its own micro-ecosystem and expensive restaurant. Take picnics! Ferries ... go for trips on little ferries. Bungle will know. You get a great view of the coastline from the water. Tin mines. See the green arsenic stains where little child workers were poisoned and try to imagine working a mile down and two miles out under the sea Just about all of this depends on the weather. Eden doesn't! EDIT You did say you're going for three months, didn't you? This post has been edited by Teapot: Mar 12 2010, 10:58 AM |
