Er, yes, my bro took me to one, I think it was Geevor on the north coast. Here's a link to a not-very-professional but informative website.
Example: "In the early 19th century boys as young as 8 worked underground. Everyone, including the women and girls on the surface, would work six days a week, 10 hours a day. Miners had to buy their own tools, candles, and explosive (note dynamite was not invented until 1867).
"Diseases such as bronchitis, consumption and rheumatism were rife. The air was polluted by dust and fumes from detonated explosives. A miner was often no longer fit enough to work underground beyond the age of 40." If he survived that long.
Hmm, bit grim but you'll be so glad to be out in the fresh air again!

We've vowed not to go to Newquay in July
We're already going there for the Riviera Run
Have fancied having a look at Truro, depends how Henny is fairing, she's an old girl after all!

The coast road down to Newquay from the north is fantastic, so after you pass the Riv Run camp site you can divert around the town. It's quite a picturesque place, just a pity about certain people
