Hi, I'm currently restoring an '83 Mini and am about to repair the handbrake mounting on the tunnel which has been torn almost out of the floor, badly mauled and crudely welded up. I seem to remember that the older type 2 cable handbrake arrangement was a more robustly mounted affair and I might change over to that format, (which also had the advantage of being able to individually adjust the rear brakes to get even handbrake operation at MOT time). I could acquire the lever itself O.K. I'm fairly sure.
As I don't know anybody with a Mini, here's the plea: The brackets are so buggered up on my car that what I ideally need is a picture of a good one- just the floor bracketry - not the lever itself . Would somebody be good enough to do this for me? Also I need a picture of the earlier 2 cable h'brake mounting - could somebody else do this for me ? !!
If I'm lucky enough to get both I can then decide which system to use and make up the bracketry accordingly, Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks edi57 - great pictures ! Could you measure the distance between centres of the two slots for the cables and the distance back from the crossmember,as if I decide to fit this earlier type handbrake I will need to cut these holes in the tunnel. Thanks again for prompt reply - much appreciated.

Hi,
I'm glad to hear that the pictures are useful.
I'll be going down to the garage tomorrow night so I'll take the measurements for you then.
