With the amount of vehicles being stolen at the moment, in particular Classic Minis (see Yorkshirechris) I am considering a "Tracker" type device.

A quick search of the tinternet brings up many types at various cost but was just interested to hear from any Classic Mini Owners that have them fitted and which is recommended ?

My Maserati came with a Tracker fitted from the factory, I just activated the subscription, but as I sold the Maserati in favour of a Range Rover last month, Tracker had a special deal that for £99, they would install a brand new Tracker into the RR and continue the subscription over.

They're just a small unit that gets concealed behind a trim panel, (I watched the guy fit it to mine and was surprised at how insignificant the unit actually is) They have a battery backup but ideally need a constant power source to keep it charged up, so not ideal if your car spends half it's time in a garage where the battery is likely to go flat.

I have a tracker Monitor on mine which includes a movement sensor so if the ignition is on and the car moves, they will alert you to a possible theft. There's a few different trackers you can choose, but some use GPS signals which can be blocked whereas Tracker use VHF (Radio signal) Which can't be jammed as easy, plus the police traffic cars all have the tracker deely in the sun visors.

If you can afford it, go for the duration subscription, that way, you pay once, and your car is covered for the full length of time you own it, ideal if you never plan on selling it. Give them a ring, they're usually pretty flexible with rates and you can pay monthly too

I'm thinking about having one installed to the Mini as it lives in my Grans garage about 5-6miles from me, they might even do a deal too being an existing customer.
