Panel Replacement Order

-Rear valance
-Rear arches
-Heelboard
-Complete floor pan
-Outer Sills (possibly inner)
-door steps
-A post
-Two Corners of the scuttle
-Scuttle closing panels
-Flitch panels
-inner wings
-Outer wings
-Front panel
This will also be the first car I have ever welded & repaired, so it may pay me to start with the easiest jobs, in doing so leaving the more difficult jobs until after I have gained some experience and with that confidence. Thanking in advance Ian.

Hi guys, apologies if this is a repeated thread, I had a search & found similar topics but none that involved the same panels. So basically my 74 pickup is in need of some fresh metal, well just metal really poor bugger. The following panels need replacing & I was wondering in what order I should do so
-Rear valance
-Rear arches
-Heelboard
-Complete floor pan
-Outer Sills (possibly inner)
-door steps
-A post
-Two Corners of the scuttle
-Scuttle closing panels
-Flitch panels
-inner wings
-Outer wings
-Front panel

Fit A posts
Fit Flitch/inner wings
Fit inner and outer A panels
Remove old outer sills and then the floor, the floor also comprises of the inner sills, so when you replace the floor you will be replacing the inner sills anyway.
Fit floor. (and cross member? not sure about pickups..)
Hang doors, and fit doorsteps, checking the gap all round.
Fit jacking points and sill bracing brackets if fitted.
Fit rear heelboard.
Fit outer sills.
Fit rear quarters/arches
Fit rear valance
Fit scuttle corners
Fit front wings and front panel. (I hope you're using the correct pressed type front panel
There are probably other ways to do it, but that's the order in which I'd tackle it. Make sure you keep a note of the old panel positions, if there's any metal left, take pictures, and measurements etc, it's quite easy to forget when you're doing panel replacement on that scale.
I'd get some serious practice in before you tackle that lot, there's some pretty heavy welding there.

if i was going about this i would start with the rear valance as it only spot welded on. rear achers i've never done so can't comment.
the front you will have to start with the scuttle corners, but they are not that easy to get right this would be one of the first things you would need to do, then follow on with the scuttle closing panels, a panels inner wings, wings and front panel would all need to be trail fitted first with the doors and bonnet in place so to get all the gaps right.
door steps i would do next with the floor and sills in place that will allow you to line everything up, floor pans i think you can get with the sills, if you need inner sills i would do these when the floor has been taken out. heel boaed could be done at the same time.
this is how i would go about doing this imo, others may have better ideas.
this is a lot of work to do so good luck
hope it helps

Woops, all sorted cheers for the heads up!You'll need to sort the photo out then! looks like you've moved it within Photobucket which has broken your link,
JR
When you take the rear valance off, you'll probably find you will need the boot floor repair panel and possibly the hinge rail.
You'll be brill at welding very soon
Would the boot floor repair be required for a pickup. What's the hinge rail? There's a long rectangular panel that the valance was attached to (barely) that closes the rear of the valance, would this be it?
