mig welders use a gas flow and a feed of wire, arc welders use electrodes(long rods) and no gas

mig all the way i am a COMPLETE novice and i use a gasless mig which works very well i know people dont like them but i like it and it only cost me £100 off ebay and the power range is from 25 amp to 110 amp so will weld body panels and also subframes

Arc is for thick metal, you'll struggle to weld panels with one.

when i got my first minin my dad welded me a inner flich panel on with an arc welder hahahaha took ages to stop blowing holes in it.. ripped it back off in the end hahaha
mig welder all the way matey the gas is very important when welding minis.. ive bin welding minis for years now and found that just standard mig mix gas is the best as pure c02 will be nice with rusty metal to metal welding but create alot of splatter even on fresh metal and pure argon will do the same but fresh metal to rusty metal.
i dispise gasless welders with a passion.(sorry to anyone that uses them) just really dnt like them. you can go wrong with abit of gas.lol not expensive either.
