Hi, I have an 1275 MG metro engine I wanting to know what oil I should use in it. I know the Manual says 10W30 or 10W40 but obviously time and technology has changed, so I wanting to know which oil you use and recomend?

What age is the engine?

I use the stuff in the green tin from halfords in my 1275 MG metro engined cooper, Its about £20 for 5 litres.
I was recommended it on this forum as its arguably better on the seals etc.

Pretty sure most people use semi-synthetic

yh i got recommended 20w50 so i used halfords http://www.halfords..../...pt&istBid=t
iv found it really good and not had problems.

wilkinsons finest 20/50, £5 a gallon

Semi-synthetic should do , dont buy synthetic - its too thin for a mini as it shares the oil with the engine and sump.

most of the cheaper engine oils are multigrade, so id think that was just semi synthetic.

No, most people say stick to basic mineral... stay away from synthetic OR semi-synthetic...

mineral oil is the only one that seems to stay in the engine (well sort of, lol), semi-synthetic and fully synthetic just leak out of every possible place
