hi guys

my brakes failed the other morning thankfully the morning after when i went to drive to the shop not whilst driving around
n/s brake cylinder rubber split let spilling the fluid as i was driving home for the night

today i removed the old brake cylinder and replaced the brake hard line. went to put the freshly cleaned drum back on and it wont go back on. i did the other side fine for the mot a few weeks back and didn't have this problem. cleaned and copper greased the adjuster and wedges (but i noticed this side has 2 wedges and the other side only had one?) the metal arm bit at the bottom seems to be stuck solid compared to the other side is this part of the problem? i've reused the old shoes and springs as there all fine looking.

The seized handbrake lever will be trying to hold the brake shoes apart so will most likely be the cause of your issues on this side. You also have an issue on the other side as there should be 2 wedges per side to ensure even brake shoe pressure - make sure you get a new one fitted before driving it any further!

2nd above info that lever wants freeing you won't have any handbrake on that side .
Also I presume you wound the wedges back in fully to refit the drum ??

I think also for the price that brake shoes are I'd have replaced them too. Especially as you've gone to all this work and they've been covered in brake fluid!

Give your handbrake quadrants on the radius arms a check to make sure they're still free and moving too
