hi i have a 1275 mini sprite and have recently purchased a stainless cat back exhaust system and was wondering if a needle change is required at this point, or is it just a noise mod? is there any change to performance with this mod? (sorry about the stupid questions im used to non cat mini's)

I will be adding a lcb, alloy inlet manifold, and de-cat pipe along with the lcb to cat link pipe soon (please see wanted add for lcb to cat link pipe) i know this will deffo need the needle changing and a r+r session but this will be fitted at the end of the month.

Many thanks

Steve

Steve, if you're just changing the back of the exhaust it should be fine on the standard needle, might need to tweak the mixture a bit, not much and more than likely not at all.

The real difference will come from the LCB, Inlet and Air filter when they go on, it'll still probably run without the needle change, just be too lean and may get too hot, just won't run at it's best.

Changing the needle as I understand it, is for the mixture profile throughout the rev range, so will give better performance when done properly and set-up on a RR. The standard needle will still work and should be fine for the time being for you, probably won't notice any difference with just the back of the exhaust changed, just as you say noise...
