Yeah well thats what I thought. Since i've got these nice new lights, i'd put some nice good performance bulbs in them.

I want HID's really, but with them not being legal and possibly dazzling other driver I can't be bothered with them. So I wanted to get as near as with some upgraded halogen bulbs. I just want some nice bright white light really.

I've been doing some reading up and philips do seem to get the best light outputs, but apparently aren't as white as people wanted.

I've found a couple of poor reviews of the ring xenon max bulbs, so think i'm going to stay away from them.

I found this on another forum copied from an auto express magazine. The xenon max don't get rated well on there either. Philips is much better, with only the osram night breakers getting close: Link

That was an old test done in 2006 for Xtreme power +50% bulbs. Now Philips do +80% bulbs which have a lot of really good reviews and are about £18 a set, they have also just released +100% Xtreme bulbs but they are about £40 a set!

So I think i'm just going scout around for the best price on some Philips Xtreme powers, the +80% ones.

That link's for H7 bulbs, not sure how much of a difference it makes.

Yeah, I don't know if it makes a difference but I was just going off how good the bulbs and manufacturers themselves were rather than the fitting.

To be honest i'm a bit bored of my big spotlights, but i've just had my car sprayed and it was sprayed with the spotlight brackets bolted on! So really i'm stuck with them cause it'll be a right mess underneath them.

At the moment I think its either osram nightbreakers or philips bulbs as both seem to get pretty good reviews. I think philips are more expensive though, so if theres not a huge amount in it i'd go for the osrams.

Sorry to dig up an old post, but has anyone found there are any new h4 bulbs that have been tried other than the ones mentioned on this post? I have some cheap 55/60w "xenon" ebay specials at the moment and they are pretty poor. Also wondered if there is any more feedback on the Osram night breakers and Philips diamond vision 5000ks.

I have been using the Halfords ones you mentioned, still on the same set about 3 years after I bought them and they have been in two sets of headlamps now (got myself some nice P700's http://www.theminifo...R#/thumbsup.gif)

Do halogens fit in the P700??

The Philips X-treme Vision bulbs are very good. A big improvement on standard H4.

They are not the longest lasting bulbs and in my experience, don't last much more than 12 months.

You can get them on Ebay for around £24 or try Eurocarparts.

I have noticed Ring have brought out a new +130% bulb which is quite a bit cheaper, but have no idea how it performs.

Most imprtant is a decent lens/reflector to get the light where you want it.

I put osram night breakers in my astra and haven't noticed much difference from the standard ones I had in.
