thanks for the replies

intercoolers definetely on the to do list

im not exactly sure on the exact spec of the engine to be honest, although i know it has definetely been rebuilt, and
from driving it i can tell that it either has straight cut drops or a straight cut gearset (which should mean it has a central oil pickup and a cross pin diff -or just a hardened pin- if it doesnt then the guy must have been an idiot lol)

from looking at it you can tell that its a quality job, very clean... if you look at the engine you will notice that there is no washer bottle.. been moved into the boot over the inner arch, i think thats how the mpi's are? will get some more pics up soon when i get the front off and start working on it (its removeable :P)

and when the head comes off that should give me some more clues etc.

when its back on the road -hopefully within the next week- im going to get it to a rolling road to see what exactly its putting out.

got the front off today, found out it has adjustable tie rods and bottom arms >_<

i also found that the bottom radiator hose had split, which could of caused the overheating issue which led to head gasket failure

but im still stumped as to why it was losing power?? i saw that the airfilter was filthy... could it of been starving for air?

heres a few more pics...

if the head gasket blew then it would lose power as it would not be compressing correctly and you would not be getting good combustion in that chamber. especially as the head gasket has blown from number 1 out the the side. i would say get the head gasket sorted and then see if you are still losing power. if you are worry about that then.

the washer type thing around the balljoints, you bend the washer thingy down around a few of the flats of the balljoint.
