Here are a couple of pics of my current bulkhead.
It had a webber box in there for its old motor also it was a rally car which apparently means the whole of the bulkhead has to be firbreglassed in for protection (what a mess).
When I bought the shell i didnt think into these bits too much. Anyway I cut the webber box out and welded in this plate but it looks pretty Sh*t I think. What would you do to tidy this up?
My current thought is to seem seal the gap rough it up blast it with 2 pac filler primer then just paint it black. It currently has a stone chip finsh which just seems to collect dust and look consistently rubbish.
Seems quite simple maybe? But I can work out the best way and I want the project to look top,I think its a fairly important area of the car.
Cheers all!!
How Would You Sort This Mess?

You could remove the whole section of bulkead and replace that with a flat piece of steel, iv seen that in a few minis and i think it look prety good

Or cover over the whole top of bulkhead with a piece of aluminum. looks good too

yeah ive thought that but where you cover it it will never be flush as there are things that stick out and recess and you will have gaps.. think it might look a bit obvious that im hiding somthing rather than a natural finish.
And removal of that panel would be a big job right?

Yep, fairly big.
You could always weld a nice looking weber box back in?

I just tacked a sheet of 1mm steel over the top, seam sealed the edges and painted it (Unfortunately I made a bit of a mess of the seam sealant). I had to flatten out the bulge for the wiper motor to make it fit properly.

made good progress with it all today. got all the fibreglass off and cut out most of the old metal. Ill fit my race frame without a bulkhead in then shape it to that to make it look neater.
I was going to make a template out of cardboard and then get my mate to cut out a cheet of steel probs 2/3mm to replace the planel thats there.
Thanks all for your input, if anyone has more pictures like type R mini lets have em!
