Hi
ive posted several post asking how to wire in a stereo and never quiet get the answer i need :D
So im approaching it a different way instead;)

So is there anybody out there with an SPI thats either got a stereo allready fitted or if you have fitted one yourself to an SPI from scratch?

Maybe if somebody has an SPI stripped out who can see where all the wiring goes easily without having to strip anything out?

If so can somebody do something really sweet for me?
Could you possibly trace back your wiring to show where the 12v constant and the 12vswitched is actually specifically attatched to in an SPI mini specifically :dontgetit:

I dont even mind taking it back to the fusebox itself but need to know exactly where on the fusebox you attatch it to?
There are also some spare fuses but nowhere in the manual does it tell you which are switched and which are constant?

Id be ever so greatful,I really need some clear photographs

Please dont tell me to buy a multimeter were stony broke because of "Boris" so need to keep costs down, can anybody help?

Thanks
Huggz
Jodie :dontgetit:

I have an spi... i joined some wires as your thinking but now im really regretting it. Wish i had got a feed from the starter motor and done it that way then used relays to start the feed.

If you check my project page you can see alot of the wiring going in.

On the fuse box there are a couple of spare spade connectors (the male part) use a bulb testor or multi meter and see which terminal lights up the bulb (do this with the ignition turned off) this is now your Permanent live source.

Now turn the ignition so that the battery light comes on (the turn before the engine starts) no check the other terminals (not the one already identified as your perm live though) with the bulb testor until the light comes on, this is now your ignition live.

If the loom isnt easily visible then you can bet your bottom dollar there isn't one as the iso connector is a 1,1/2" square so would be easy to spot.

follow a post i wrote for kempy this gives links to all the components you need to do a neat proffessional job.

http://www.theminifo...showtopic=95783

the permanent live is connected to the yellow wire and is used to store all your radio station presets

The red wire is the ignition live and is used to turn the head unit on.

for your earth if you can find a nice corrosion free nut and bolt or drill a hole and use a self taper/nut&bolt to earth it to the body, make sure you clean the paint off around where the earth meets the body.

you can make a bulb testor with a short piece of cable and a spare 12v car bulb. although cheap multimeters can be bought for less than a tenner.

Or if your going to Stanford Hall Mini show in a couple of weeks il bring my tool kit and help you sort it out?

All you'll need is the universal harness il sort the rest out.

cant be fairer than that.

If you havent done anything like that before it can be a bit daunting, im off tomorrow to do a few mods to my mini so ill take some pics of the fuse box etc. Im pretty sure the terminal positions will be the same for your but still double check.
