Hi Everyone...

As I'm new to the forum I thought I'd stick up a few pictures of the last mini rebuild I did. As its not really worth a project thread (too few pics) I figured in here was probably best.

Its not my car - I did it for a very good friend of mine for her 21st birthday present... it was her mums and had been sat derelict on the drive for a year or two after the head gasket went. A month or two before the big day I ferried it away and got to work... Soon sorted the head etc and got stuck into the bodywork. Usual little things needed doing - bit of welding on the passenger sill, repair to one of the side panels between wing and door, rear valance panel... then a respray to change it from the lovely pooh brown it was originally to a green colour that Rachel (the owner) had picked out from a set of colour chips... Combined that with an old english white roof, and some painted bonnet stripes (also old english white) and I was pretty pleased with the result. Made me fall in love with Mini's again to be honest... :D

I didn't take all that many pics - but heres a selection of the one's I did take during the repaint...

And then - on the big day - this is the kind of smile we all like to see!

Finally - this year Rach passed her test and she's flying about in it now! Happy days.....

Personal opinion again, I like them, I'd never of noticed there width if no one had said. Be quiet he has put lots of effort in and it has turned out bloody marvelous.

Haha... this is one of the things thats so spot on about the t'interweb... people say it how it is...

For the record when it was painted I kinda felt I'd been a bit meaty with the stripes - but as the saying goes..... "f*%$ it... too late!"

At the end of day she was well chuffed and I got back into mini's again so everyones a winner.... Picking up my R1 engine tomorrow.... wahey!

oh dear here we go again :)

lets get one thing straight, the point of the topic was to get opinions on the project NOT "please only give good opions on the project".

i think the car is great and a very good job done, but the fact is if the stripes are suposed to replicate cooper stripes then they are a little too wide.

no one was being picky and no one was saying the car looked naff. the comment was taken, by the origional poster of the topic, as it was intended.

no offence was meant.

he could have just as easily said "yeah, i know they are a bit wide but i prefer them like that" and that would have been the end of it

some people really need to calm down, just a little :teehee:

and just to show that i do apreciate "personal twists" these are my first two minis with "my own" version of bonnet stripes....
