Hi I'm stripping down the shell of my 1993 Rover Cooper S and looking for some advice on engine removal

I've been told the easiest way to do it is to remove as much as you can from the engine bay then drop the engine and subframe off the shell ( lifting the shell up and over it)

Is this true?? I don't have a hoist so lifting the engine up and out would require buying/borrowing some bits!

Yep, that would be easiest - just get a couple mates to help lift the shell and wheel out the subframe.

youll need a few people because the shell is heavier than youd think..

You can do it with a bit of 4 x 2, some rope and a couple of people either end (or if you are a particularly weedy bunch - two people each end!).

This then leaves the car mobile.....
