Hi, I'm having trouble with my 1991 1275 cooper gearbox. When selecting neutral the gearstick movement seems very stiff. I can select all gears ok although it is a bit of a sruggle, and the car drives fine. I have stripped and regreased the remote change at the base of the gearstick and the selector rods to the gearbox do not seem bent. the selecter in the gearbox seems very tight when I move it manually as if it is bent. I wondered if the alloy collar which holds the o ring seal is damaged. Could this be the case? I have brought a new gear linkage oil seal kit, but does a factory box have the same alloy spacer fitted? Any idea how I can remove it? I was going to drill and tap it in two places and pull it out as square as I can, any body done this?

Many Thanks
