Hi, I am a Mini owner in Texas who recently bought some parts on ebay from a shop in Leeds. After 2 months of waiting on the parts, the shop will not return my calls. If you have dealings with classic mini bits in Leeds (Jason), watch out. They are not reputable and, in my opinion, are criminals. I am rebuilding a 71 MK III from the ground up on a tight budget and these people stole my hard earned money. Thanks and happy motoring. BH

Is there an address for the shop in Leeds?
Im sure if there was someone who lives that way would call in and chase up the bits you bought.
Anyone from Leeds willing to assist??

im sure you know, but to anyone else wondering this is his business website
http://www.miniscrapyard.co.uk
he offered me a driveshaft when i put up a wanted ad. he was very cheap so i asked for some pics of the splines (would have done the same if it cost £100) and he never got back to me on it. i text his mobile but didnt get a reply, later pm'd him and he said he had got it. then i tried to call his mobile but noone would pick up. then pm'd him about something unrelated and he replied via pm and was very nice. but then when i said 'have you taken the driveshaft off the car and the pics? look forward to doing business with you in the next few days', didnt get a reply again.

so i gave up, but definitely sounds like something dodgy.

If the transaction was an ebay one, have you not filed a claim with ebay/paypal?

I think these people must be new as I had never heard of them until recently.

looks like i will be claiming my money back through paypal - as he said he was taking the clocks out tuesday and posting them.

actually will give him a couple more days, but when i spoke to him he did seem rather muddled as above, i think he sent m"y" clocks to someone else.

I really do think we are being targetted by scammers.....

Best thing to do is only buy parts and stuff from reputable companies, like Mini Spares or Somerford Minis.

You're pretty sure to get treated with respect then.

I'd be very wary of any business that only has a Mobile Phone number and no address!

There's a registration number on his site, NHW 402Y, so it may be possible for the Police to trace that Mini and find him through it, always assuming it isn't just some random photos he downloaded off the net :)

Somehow I'm thinking he isn't registered for handling waste, business rates, self employed income tax.....

Oh, also, don't we have a nice copper from Leeds on the forum?

I haven't found his address, but I have his phone number. It is 07534032826. I don't know how y'all do area codes there, but that was the one on his website. The website is http://classicminibits.co.uk/about_us . Thanks for looking into this, and I hope no one else gets ripped off by this guy. Not only am I out over $300, i have had to wait for 2 months to get my little car on the road. Very frustrating to say the least. Y'all have a contact (me) in the states if you need anything. Minis of Texas are a bunch of great guys and they have some sweet Minis, too. Thanks. BH

Oh, bugger.

Looks like I have been stung again.

I put up a wanted ad for back plates for rear wheels... have been waiting three weeks now. He originally said that his car was broken into and he wasn't sure what had been sent out and what hadn't.
Txted him yesterday and he said he was in the queue for posting it.

I am giving it until Tuesday to turn up, and then proceeding via other methods as it's holding me up and I need the money.

:)

i have had some dealings with minibits, and i will not deal with them again.
i wanted some front disc hubs. so he replied to my wanted ad.

then a few days later i get some rear hubs through the post.
he said it was a mistake by one of his workers, and promised to send out some front hubs asap. they never arrived.
and he apparently sent out a further 2 sets of hubs when each time i said they never arrived.

I never got the hubs BUT after a bit of chasing he did refund me the cash i paid for the hubs.

its was a bit strange though that 3 sets of hubs "disappeared" in the post.

i dont know if they are scammers because i got a refund.
