hello,

just a quick note to hopefully save some other sucker from being ripped off by this B*****D.

in April 08 i purchased a amazing sounding 1992 cooper from this guy for £1100, sounds cheap? well it was the most expensive mistake i have ever made. The discription stated that "all that needs doing is the head has to be bolted on"... "no rust!" "one days work".

This was very much not the case, massive patches of rust around the A-panels, broken through the paint in many places, 3" parts of open rust. The Engine was runined, no chance of getting it running without a full rebuild. floor needed extensive welding.

it has taken me untill now to get the car going and i have spent over £2000!

When i complained to the seller 2 weeks after the sale (as early as possible) he got very agressive.

I suppose it is my fault for not viewing the car before purchasing, but just a warning to all you out there, this guy is a theif!

its an ebay shop, i only bought it as he had good feedback, but on closer inspection he doesnt sell many expensive items and when he does not everyone is happy.

Im sorry to hear this but i still find it truely amazing that people buy cars without going to look at them first? dontgetit.gif At least you will be a bit more weary next time!

i have sold 2 cars on ebay and nobody came to look at them! always look at the feed back

I guess most people just trust others as much as they trust themselves. I've often bought things including of course minis and parts, without seeing them but also except that there is a risk involved. Sometimes it goes the other way and you get more than you bargained for! I once bought a mini on Ebay from a guy in germany for very little money and it was lucky I had my van with me because he gave me everything he had at no extra cost. Alloys, seats, panels trim etc. It all filled the van the trailer and the mini that was on the trailer. biggrin.gif

True, incredible that anyone can be so lackadaisical with their money! I was when I was younger, once and never again!

well as i was a nieve idiot i payed half of the money over ebay, then gave him the other half when he dropped it off, i had rose tinted glasses on and, well hey, there was a mini on my driveway!! (most of one) it was only when he pushed it off the trailer and the U-ramps made two great air vents in the floor that i started to feel like a prat. then he drove off rather hurridley - even forgeting his straps from the trailer!
i just wish the scum like him could be nutered at birth so that the generation after us wouldnt have to deal with them aslo (thats probably very contraversial, sorry)

all though it is my fault for buying it really....

i went through ebay disputes afterwards but nothing came of it.

here she is now, and dont get me wrong i love it to bits, probably more than i would if i didnt have to do so much to her!

you can probably see the bonnet doesnt sit flat, is there any way of rectifying this? bonnet straps?

I have bought and sold cars on ebay before, no one has ever come to look before the end, and the car i bought was 4 hrs drive away, so didn't go to look at it. But if your paying anything over £100 for it, dont pay in advance because as you found out it could be not as described. At least with not paying you can walk away if need be, i would be happy to get negative feedback if it wasn't how it should be.

I bought the Rat off ebay, I have had three so I should have known better, got mine from worcester and i
live in leicester, had to hire a trailer as well. got there had a look round saw one small hole, (rose tinted
glasses again) chap said he had repaired the floor inside which was all re-carpeted, handed over £500
smackers and toddled off hope happy as larry... When i got home i had another look OMG.
lots of rust and badly welded repairs (just look at my posting 'THE RAT').
only one person too blame and that is me, I should have known better.....

but at least i can do it all myself...
kitroxin
ouch, well mine didnt need quite that much welding!
just a whole new (different) engine, new interior, actually pretty much everything!. looking back it was fun to do and i learnt a huge ammount inluding one very important thing: Never trust the big blue book of lies!
NudgerSS
I've reason to believe the geezer you bought the engine off was a top bloke and couldn't do enough to help. Even excellent after sales too! NOW STOP TEXTING ME! LOL wink.gif
