I have a 1990 Mini Cooper. dont appear to have much rust, I did replace the rear subframe and found no rust on the body, so a coat of waxoyl and refit the subframe.
At the front end I changed the brakes for Metro 4 pots and added Hi lows (well Msports copy) which I had laying around from a mini I broke up as was the rear subframe.
the Engine is a A+ 1380 with Omegas, lightened rods, wedged crank, 286 cam, ported head and large reworked chambers. on a reworked turbo box.
the charger kit it self comes from Ebay from what I can see ( got it with a load of other parts) its not too good. I have looked at Minispeeds kit and found that to be far better.
the engine is in the car and the charger mounted. but i will have to see why the lower pulley does not line up with the charger pulley before i go on.

pulleys lining up depends on whos manifold/kit it is as jonspeed and vscart max kits use a specially machined pully that runs the standrard v belt for water pump alternator and has extra bit for running the super charger

the mini speed kit uses the standard mpi pulley

cheers Stig I do hope you are fit again. I think the manifold and parts (being not many) comes from a guy called blown1380 on Ebay. I say this becouse I have seen this kit on Ebay. its the lowest of standards no thoughts as to air flow and so on, but I have it so I will use it if I like it I will get a better one next time.
how long do the Alloy pulleys live for?

theres another post on here some where,he got 10,000 miles on a vmax scart pulley.he said was down to material.the car is a blue clubman estate.ive had my own pulleys done,worked out my own system,hopefully it will be ok.wasnt happy with belt alignment on purchased pulley.

I want to try and keep the Rover pulley as i think the damper is important part of the life of the engine.

the minispeed kit mounts the charger much further over towards the clutch side of the engine, this allows the use of the MPI bottom pulley and a single belt around everything.

the manifold you have is intended for use with a vmax type twin belt pulley sadly.

To move the charger over enough to run the MPI pulley one of the bolts for the charger outlet will be going directly through the inlet tract for 1 and 2, as you can see in pics of the minispeed setup, they use a hole in the inlet tract to do the bolt up, then a plug to seal it up again.

I have seen the Minispeed kit close up and i must say i like it, but as i have this stuff already I will have to make it fit ( goes to the tool box and gets a lump hammer out) I have three ideas
1. machine a spacer to space the mpi pulley out.
2. machine the mpi pulley shaft down and try and mount it to the Cooper S pulley.
3. Buy or make an Alloy replacement.

The pulley:
I have taken a Cooper S pulley this will run the alt and water pump I have machined it so that it mates to the MPI pulley.
the MPI pulley had to be machined down on the inside to lose the lip and one row of V, when fitted together the Cooper pulley stops the belt from wandering.
Now all I have to do is fit the 36 tooth pick up. and then I will do some pictures.

Looking at the manifold and the eaton you can see that the inlet hole is covered half way! what a load of scrap metal.

I am going to have to doctor the hole some what. i am going to move it over.

The answer to the carb sticking out of the bonnet would be to Inject it!

you have to modifie the supercharger as shown both jonspeed ans v scart max kit require this mod

as for the carb being out side the bonnett what the hell the carb should be a tight fit but thats stupid

the carbs on both my vmax and jonspeed kits where just above the clutch housing and you could just fit a airfilter in there

thanks for that Stig, (its nice to have your help on this) the kit is from an "unknown" I picked it up with a load of other bits thinking it would be a quick fit.

All the same the inlet pipes too long after looking at your pictures.
Is there a reason for the hole on the manifold being so, apart from the "maybe" balance effect, ie one set of cylinder might get more air than the others?
