Engine Decision

I have a 998cc engine in my mini city, due to rebuild i dont know what to do with the engine.

Should i keep it as a 998 or change to a larger engine, i want speed but i dont want a v-tec or motorbike engine.
Do i go supercharger or turbo or non ???
Please help guys as there are two many options and i want to narrow it down to 2.

Any pictures would be great or just the info would make all the difference to my frustration.

How much more speed do you want?

I take it you want to stay original (i.e. with an A series engine?) - Could fit a 1275 or even a 1293/1310/1340/1380 lump?

I would like to be in the 160-190 BHP region but if i can get more then great.

Just checked in MiniWorld (April 2010)...

The highest BHP achieved from a A Series engine is 82.5BHP... Thats naturally aspirated though (1380)

The three highest BHP recordings from that session were all from Honda engines, the two lowest being 1.6's (about 174BHP each) and the highest coming from a 2.0 (232BHP)

[qu could put the metro turbo engine in it with a few mods ur get that to abou 140 160 bhp. But u wil have to put an electric fuel pump on it

Seeing as your 30 insurance won't be a problem - best way forward is either a SuperCharger/TurboCharger...

They usually have the power tests every month or so (when ever a club arranges a Dyno run day and submits their results).

Just had a look in the Feb 2010 edition, the top power was 133.5BHP which was produced from a 1310cc MG Metro Turbo'd lump. Next was 104.5BHP which again was from a Turbo'd 1330 engine (running 9PSI of boost).
