Bought this Orange Mini Mayfair about February 2009, with the plan of changing the engine to a 1275 and taking on the London to Brighton run, things fell through at the last minute because the windscreen wipers did not work and could not get it MOT'd in time, (Still went but in the girlfriends car) thought i'd have PLENTY of time to sort it for this year, took the engine out again to get the subframe and all suspension components painted, and that's about as far as i got before the second Mini failed the MOT with major rust issues, Where does the time go. (Two daughters, no garage) Thought putting something up here might give me a kick in the ass.

A few shots of the good work the previous owner put in.

These are the wheels, and the style of arch, but mine are CF showing the weave to keep with the Orange and black theme.

Very nice - the colour is the same as mine!

I like the idea of the carbon arches instead of black

I hope it isnt the new looking motor above that has been sitting under the tarpaulin!

Ebay, Paid far too much for it, it's not overhauled just degreased, some polished parts, new gaskets.

I hope it isnt the new looking motor above that has been sitting under the tarpaulin!

Oh Yes. didn't think it would be stuck out there so long and with it being degreased the weather has really got to it,
i may as well burned a wad of cash!

Here's the front subframe that's kept things held up for so long.

Wanted to strengthen the tower top's but because my welding is not that neat, needed to grind back.

Any tips on lightening the subframes, would this be road legal (or is it just for race cars)

The towers ground back, just some rounding off to do with the air sander.

Great news today, joined the Wittering motor club, A small bunch of people have got together to rent a garage with Ramp, basic tools, a compressor and storage for 5 cars, all for the pricely sum of £18 per YEAR (£2.50 a month storage) Good times. :(
