Help Again Please

hi, i havent posted for a while but today after a woeful end to last year with 3 head gasket changes i decided to go out to neon again, the winter hasnt helped her, rust bubbles, oh well respray getting closer ......

however took head off this morning expecting to see a split between cylinder and a water capilary, at first look no split on close inspection a hirline split between 2 and 3, not it usual place anyway that 3 and 4. could this split cause gas to get into water as those who remember i was getting a massive build up of water pressure and blowing it out of overflow, compression testing was fine on all four and she starts first turn, the rocker cover had a bit of gunk but id expect that from condensation. your thoughts would be greatfuly accepted as i am at a loss, the water level was dropping, heater failing as a result which started me looking, heater has been flushed and when airlocks drained they are back in seconds

Is this 'split' in the head - or the block - or the gasket ? You don't say. Any 'split' will allow gas and water to mix - so it HAS to be sorted.

split in gasket, thanks, yeah i know it needs fixing im just confused as i expected it to be gone between cylinderf and capilary not two cylinders, ive just drained oil and it was a really opaque colour as well, yet its only done couple of hundred miles it was ike milk chocolate shake,, previously my gaskets that have gone have been really visibly missing whereas this almost looks like a crease in the metal, it was a cheap one and its left a rite mess on my block as well, could gas get into water via this little leak.

The crappy coloured oil will be because the waters got into it.

If you're continually getting gasket problems then it may be worth getting the head skimmed. Maybe even find another head as a replacement.

ok an update for you. head checked for flatness, perfect, tested thouroghly and twice,

valves removed, cleaned and lapped.
all surfaces prepd and a nice copper gasket purchased, il put it back together next week. by the looks of it what i thought was a split rad might not be as the gasket had water marks on the side so its possible i think that water escaped under pressure and into the fan blowing it through the rad gills, i mighjt be way off but it seems odd that and old rad and a new rad leaked in the same place, anyways we will see, anyone got any thoughts on my theory
