Evening Chaps, having grown tired of the engine cutting out at the slightest hint of rain, I've noticed my Mini is missing this particular part from looking at other Minis online:

The attachments on the rocker cover are still in place; it's just the other, much larger and more important piece is missing!

I'm just wondering what the name of this part is actually called? An 'Engine electrics cover' didn't yield any results on Google and surfing the Mini Spares website has been fruitless as well. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Alot of cars didn't run them. I don't.

If your ignition parts are realy clean and in good condition, you don't realy have any problems.

Aha! Thanks chaps, was just me being blind. I must admit the electrics do look a touch grimey under the bonnet. Is there any specific way of cleaning them? Sorry for sounding so daft but it's better to be safe than sorry!

If you don't want to splash out (excuse the pun) on a splash guard then take a rubber glove and cut the tips off the fingers. Poke your leads through them and put and elastic band round each of the fingers in the glove and cable. Then stretch the glove of the distributor and put another band round it all to keep the glove in place if needed. Did this with mine and neither had problems with water in the electrics afterwards.

I 'borrowed' some plastic from school, and wire tied it to the back of my grill.
It works perfectly, and is completely invisible

Where are you from mate? I still have my splash guard hanging arround somewhere if u want it.

That's rather kind Burnard. At the minute I'm at Hatfield, Herts. If there's a distance between us, would happily pay postage if it's not too much of a bother.
