Model:Rover Mini Studio 2
Year: 1990
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
I removed the rear hubs ages ago, but somehow managed to snap a bearing 'holster' (don't know the technical term, but it's plastic and holds the traditional bearings). I decided I'm not fussed and bought to new bearing kits, as I thought this was best whilst rebuilding. I have rebuilt the hubs with the new bearings in, but unsure if its right. On either side of the hub, the bearings/races sit flush. The races will not go in any further. I have applied these to the radius arms to see if they go on, but I have no thread left! Can anyone shed any light? Let me know if a picture is needed. Cheers chappies

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem? Tapered bearing kits

Did you remove the old bearing races?(the part the bearings sit in)They shouldn't fall out, they need a good few whacks to get them out

Hmmm, is that the inner or out? The inner races came out with the bearings. It seemed there were no outer races from looking inside the hub. I think I'd better double check

Yes the outer race,if you are changing bearing type then you will need another type of bearing outer race. Tapered bearings should come with a new outer race as mine did.

Thanks dudes. I have the haynes manual which shows identical to this, but I may have overlooked the original outer races! I'm gona double check now before it goes dark on me, they could still be in there and I've knocked the nw outers into the old outers... :)

I got the new outers back out. I do think the old outers are still in, I can see what looks like a spacer inbetween them.. I tried to hammer them out but they will not budge. I will try my luck again tomorrow
