Hi,

It's a basic 998 head and I've took it off for a clean whilst I fixed my Gearbox bearings.

I heard somewhere (and I cant remember for the life of me where) that carb cleaner is supposed to be effective?
Can I use a really fine grit sand paper to clean around the flat surface of the chamber itself?

Help!

Regards

Greg.

Use a wire cup either in a drill or grinder, very effective.

Brass or just normal??

I'm worried about wearing away at the valves and head face

Thanks

Greg.

Normal and don't worry it will not damage the head. You would have to be pressing far above the strength of the wire cup to do any harm. I suppose if you held it in one place at very high speed then it would eventually wear something.

I have done numerous de cokes using this technique and no damage so far.

as above, a wire brush on a drill does the job.
