Help To Fit Gear Rod Oil Seal

Hi everyone and thanks for taking time to read this.

Tommorrow night i am attempting to replace my gear rod oil seal on my 998cc 1983 mini mayfair AUTOMATIC. has anybody done this before or know how to. i do have a freind helping who roughly knows what he is doing could anybody do me a quick idiots guide to?? would be very grateful.

Hi im a new bee but its easy on the ramps put in newtral and then knock out the pin on the linkage you should then be able to pull the rod out then take out the old gaskit and make sure you remeber to check the way it comes out then put it all back together and make sure not to damage the pin or anything else

I'll be helping Liam with this tonight can anyone confirm that the process is the same as it is on the manual?

It's totally different the auto selector is a cable that runs round to above the oil drain plug.

Ah yes, think i've seen that round the front of the box, might be easier than the manual then or is that wishful thinking?

Are you sure it's the culprit? Could it be a driveshaft seal?

Some other mini guy has looked at it and said it's the gear selector seal but we will see tonight, cheers for your help so far
