I realise that this will have been covered a hundred times over so i am sorry but i think the search is not working right at the moment... not for me anyway!

Anywho... i think i am going to buy a gorgeous set of 10" wheels but i am currently on 12's... is all i need to do is buy the brake sonversion kit from say mini-spares?? is it really that simple??

I think Bungle meant not only do you have to buy it, but you need to actually fit it. That should be all you need.

while were on kinda stupid questions about conversions, can you still fit a 12" wheel on to the hub after the conversion? i.e running 10's and carrying a 12 as a spare?

No problem at all.

Do the 10's and 12's have the same rolling radius then? If not then it can't be a good idea to carry a 12" as a spare - I wouldn't fancy driving with a 12" on one corner of the car and 10"s on the other

good point, however it wouldnt be permanant. just as an emergency escape route.

failing that, carry two and have on end of the car higher than the other.

The rolling radius is virtually the same for all Mini wheels.
They are:

For 10" with 165/70 = 9.55"
For 12" with 165/60 = 9.89"
For 13" with 175/50 = 9.94"

Bear-in-mind that the tread depth is around 0.3" useable and you will see that a min tread 12" is virtually identical to a new 10"
